Nursery through Second Grade: will continue to explore the different ways we use our voices in singing seasonal songs.
Third Grade will begin Recorder Karate I! Students will learn proper breathing technique, holding posture, finger placement and how to finger G, A and B.
Fourth Grade will continue Recorder Karate I. Students will review G,A,B,C, high D by reviewing “When the Saints Go Marching In” from Recorder Karate I.
Fifth Grade will begin our Conducting Unit! Students will learn how to conduct in 4, 3 and 2 time (4/4 in September). Students will also learn how to read time signatures, and sub-divide beats.
Sixth Gradewill begin their Reggae Unit! Students will study the lives and songs Bobby McFerrin, Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley and the House of Marley company. Songs such as “Three Little Birds” and “Don’t Worry Be Happy” will be studied.
Seventh Grade will begin their Musical Unit. Students will learn about conversational singing, learn about the first musical and compare Broadway present day to the 1800s .
Eighth Grade: will continue their piano unit. They will review the C, G and F chords learned in 7th Grade with more advanced songs. Students will review the FACE/EGBDF reading notation system and fill in the notes to advanced songs accordingly.
Classes will also practice Liturgical Music for Thursday school Masses.
