Current Topic - WWI
Homework for Mon 3/28 - If you did not finish the Propoganda Analysis Primary Source Activity in class, then please finish it for HW tonight!
Week of 3/28 - Monday, we began a WWI propaganda analysis primary source activity in class today.
Week of 3/21 - Monday, we started an online interactive activity from the Library of Congress, titled, "Echoes of the Great War". it is a webquest of sorts which has students analyzing multiple primary sources from the US during WWI. Students then had questions to answer about each source, 1-18. This will be continued in class, tomorrow, Tues. 3/22. Students who finished the Library of Congress webquest started on an end of the war guided notes activity. On Wed. in class, we through a Google Slides presentation about the end of the war, and the Peace Conference that followed. The treaty that ended the war was discussed as well. Students filled out questions on the Google Slides. Thursday was a day where we analyzed and talked about President Wilson's 14 Points, and completed an assignment on those 14 Points.
Week of 3/14 -
Week of 3/7 - This week we got back to our place in history before we pivoted for Black History Month & Women's History Month. Today we started back up in our textbook on page 745, chapter 11, on the causes of World War I. Tuesday students were asked to fill out a "MANIA" sheet, which is an acronym for the causes of WWI.(Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism, Imperialism, and Assasination.) On Thursday we continued in our textbook on Lesson 2, which covers the U.S. and how they got closer and closer to getting involved in WWI, until finally the Zimmerman Telegram and multiple sunken ships by German U-Boats brought the U.S. into the war.
Week of 2/28 - We began this week by researching influential women for "Womens History Month". On Monday students were asked to choose 2 influential women, and write 3 facts for each as they researched said women. Tues. & Wed, students completed an illustration sheet on chosen influential women, and completed facts sheets for those women as well.
Week of 2/14 - This week we began working on a project, where students completed research on a cultural icon from their country of origin. They then were asked to make a Google Slides presentation on the person they chose. These projects were presented to the class by each student starting on Thursday, and we finished presentations on Friday.
Week of 2/7- On Monday we examined a primary source activity entitled, "Rally Round The Flag". It consisted of 7 different armed forces regime flags from the Civil War. All of the regimes were made up of African American soldiers. For the rest of the week, we watched the Jackie Robinson biographical movie "42".
Week of 1/31 - On Monday, we began Black History Month by talking about our family background and family traditions. as a Do Now" students wrote about their family heritage, and any family traditions they have. On Wed. & Thus. we took a virtual field trip to the "Museum of the American Revolution" to view the Finding Freedom" Exhibit. This was great. We also read an article titled, "7 Black Heros of the American Revolution". On Friday we drew our family's nationality's flag and colored them in for a school-wide collage of flags in the main office area.
Week of 1/24 - On Monday & Tues. students made a Google Jamboard about the USS Maine, which was sunk, and was a precursor for the involvement of the US in the Spanish American War. These Jamboards came out great! Students were very creative in making them! On Thursday we started a Spanish American War DBQ/CRQ. This was continued on Friday. This will be graded as a test grade!
Week of 1/17 - On Tuesday we talked about MLK Jr. We also started to research the Progressive Presidents, which we continued on Wed. Thurs & Friday we started to talk about "America as a World Power", and how America started to take their place as the most powerful country in the world at this time, in the early 1900s.
Week of 1/10 - Mon-Wed. all students presented their magazines to the class. Everyone presented with great success! Thurs & Friday we looked at political cartoons from the time period, and analyzed them.
Week of 1/3/22- This week while we were online, we continued to work on our "Muckraker Magazines". Thursday and Friday we finalized our magazines, and we are ready to present on Monday.
Week of 12/20 - On Monday we started a project, titled "Muckraker Magazine". This project has students working with a partner strickly online through a Google Doc. I assigned each pair a "muckraker" to research. They are to create a magazine with 8 different parts, to be presented to the class starting on Monday 1/10.
Week of 12/13 - This week we started an "Immigration & Urbanization" Webquest. On Friday we read a slection from Jacob Riis' book, "How The Other Half Lives" & answered questions on what we read.
Week of 12/6 - On Mon. we continued with the textbook section on "The Progressive Era", filling out our vocabulary worksheet as we went.
Week of 11/29 - On Monday & Tues. we closed out the 2nd Industrial Revolution Age by answering the questions on textbook pg 645 #1-2, and 647 #11-17. This was handed in to be graded. On Wed. we began a new topic "The Progressive Era", by starting the topic in our textbook, pg 653, and defining vocab words from the topic.
Week of 11/22 - On Monday we watched a video on the Assembly Line, and how Henry Ford made interchangable parts. On Tuesday we had a day where students were given an opportunity in class to make up any incomplete work that they may have had turned in this Trimester, since the Trimester ends on Wed, 11/24.
Week of 11/15 - On Monday we completed textbook pages 621-629, and answered the "Lesson Check" questions # 1-6.
Week of 11/8 - On Monday we began talking about the 2nd Industrial Revolution, where world changing products like the light bulb, telephone, and airplane were developed. Tues - Thurs. were spent completing a Google Slides project where students researched those inventions plus others, and put together a number of Google Slides with great information about each invention.
Fri. 11/5 - We wrote "A Letter From The Plains", a fictional letter from the perspective of an immigrant to his family back home, who helped build the Trans. Railroad, then decided to stay in America as a farmer out West. Creativity and historical accuracy were key!

-All future tests & quizzes will be posted here, and below in the event calander. You will have at least a week's notice before any test or quiz so there is plenty of time to study!
-I will note on this page about any WebQuests or Online Activitys that we do in class, but those will always be assigned on our Google Classroom page.
